HOW IS AI AFFECTING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

The “Sound Of Tomorrow” Conference 2024, in partnership SOUND + VISION Cambridge, is taking place in Anglia Ruskin University’s Helmore Music Recital Hall on the 12th of April 2024. Produced by Anglia Ruskin’s third year Music and Music Technology students, the “Sound Of Tomorrow” conference is themed around how the timely topics of AI and Social Media are impacting the music industry. “Sound Of Tomorrow 2024” is also open to the public, but we encourage students from surrounding colleges and universities to attend to take full advantage of our adjoining careers fair which will be happening between 1pm and 3pm.


10am - Welcome

Introductory Talk

10.15am - Artist Panel

AI is becoming increasingly commonplace in the music industry- but is it a help or hindrance to musicians? Hosted by ARU’s very own Dr. William Campbell, this talk will also feature Remi Fairweather-Stride from Youth Music, Tareic Alphonse from the Ivors Academy, and Gavin Miller from Arcadia Solutions.

11am - Will Young Fireside (Founder Of Strawberries and Creem Festival)

Will Young, founder of “Strawberries & Creem” Festival will be joining us to talk about how “Strawberries & Creem” began, building your brand and promoting yourself on social media.

12pm - Lunch Break

Including a chance for students and professionals alike to network.

1pm - Kat Five Fireside

Kat Five (AKA Terry Tyldesley) is a musician, producer, tech consultant and half of the band “Feral Five”. Kat will be joining us to discuss the formation of “Feral Five”, tech and AI in music production and performance, female representation in music production, and “Feral Five’s” new album : “Truth Is The New Gold”.

2pm - Academic Panel

Hosted by ARU’s Dr. Sven-Amin Lembke, the academic panel is filled with industry professionals who will be talking about the development and application of AI in the music industry. Dr Sven-Amin Lembke will be joined by Dr Anna Xambo Sedo, Dr Geraint A. Wiggins, Dr Oded Ben-Tal and Dr Robin Laney.

3pm - Epa Fassianos (Electroacoustic Music Composer)

Electroacoustic music composer Epa Fassianos will be joining us to talk about electroacoustic music composition, AI in music composition and how to get people to listen to your music

4.15pm - KEYNOTE: Jeremy Pritchard (Everything Everything)

Jeremy Pritchard, bassist and one quarter of Everything Everything, is joining us to talk about AI in music production, writing “Raw Data Feel” with AI assistance, and Everything Everything’s latest album, “Mountainhead”.

5.15pm - Closing Talk
