CONFERENCE
The Sound + Vision conference is designed to offer artists, performers, producers, and songwriters a chance to learn how to progress in the music industry through a mix of lectures, debates and screenings.
Split over two days, Thursday 20th and Friday 21st April 2023, the conference allows access to leading music industry professionals, the conference offers a chance to learn, network and advance careers to the backdrop of the Sound + Vision festival.
A conference wristband allows access to every event in the S + V conference.

Futures in Music & Audio, presented by Cambridge School of Creative Industries degree students (ARU). Panels
and workshops to discuss the current state and future direction of music and audio industries. The sessions will provide insights and perspectives from artists and industry into the challenges and opportunities for employment and skill-set development for aspiring and established professionals alike.

In the 1970s, Phil Harding’s career started at the Marquee Studios, engineering for The Clash, Killing Joke, Toyah and Matt Bianco. The 1980s followed with mixing tracks for Stock, Aitken & Waterman at PWL Studios tracks by for artists such as Bananarama, Rick Astley, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys and Kylie Minogue. Moving to Strongroom studios in the 1990s mixing for the likes of East 17 and Boyzone.
•15:30 – 16:30 : Anyone Can Play Guitar: A discussion on access to opportunities in the music industry, including education, diversity, accessibility and technology.

•17:00 – 18:00 : “Uncertain Joys” with Billy Lunn (The Subways)
The Subways released their debut album (Young For Eternity) in 2005. Since then, they’ve been fortunate enough to tour the world many times over. Their fifth album, Uncertain Joys, was released on 13th January of this year. As well as writing The Subways’ music and lyrics, Billy Lunn is also a recording and mixing engineer, not just for his band, but for other artists which will be delved into during this fireside interview.
